After the successes of Fy in February 2010 and a new model of project for DRILL, Primal Dust, under the direction of Joshua Lowe reflected upon the idea that humans, even with their highly developed mental capacity, are still essentially animals. Drawing on theories and myths involving evolution and the creation of man, the work explored the human body in its most primal form.

The cast of fourteen young local performers were joined by three emerging professional dancers from Melbourne, who both mentored and performed alongside the local cast.
